I am looking for a listing of any movie theaters that are either university operated or leased out by the university or any combination of the two for a research project that I am working on. Thanks in advance

My job inludes managing the projection booth at Mercyhurst College.

Our Performing Arts Center is a multi-purpose stage/screen venue owned and operated by the college. We will show 31 Films and will have put on more than 20 other events by the end of this school year. (Not including academic events/lectures.)

Although many of our events are geared toward the academic community, most of them are open to the public. Our film series has actually gained quite a following as the "Place to See Movies" that don't show at the local Cinema Googolplex.

Last year Gettysburg College in Gettysburg PA bought the historic theatre in downtown Gettysburg which had been triplexed in the 80's. I understand that later this year the college will take it back from the current operator and convert back into a single screen performing arts center.

I believe that Bucknell University owns the historic Campus Theatre in Lewisburg Pennsylvania which I understand that they lease to one of their college professors who operates the place as a sort of cinema grill.

And although ours is not student-run, the university in which our archive is based also operates a fully equipped cinema which runs shows twice a week (one mainstream and one arthouse night), of which I am the licensee. Programming is done by an events management company and the shows are open to the public as well as students.

I forgot Kara McVey's theatre in Delaware, The Strand. It is owned by Ohio Wesleyan University. She used to post here, but I haven't seen her around for awhile.

Strand Theatre
28 E Winter St
Delaware, OH 43015
740-363-4914

I think there is a theatre in Athens, OH that is owned by Ohio University, but I'm not sure.

One of the finest campus cinema programs in the USA is the Cornell Cinema, which operates out of Willard Straight Hall on the (truly beautiful) Cornell University campus high above Cayuga's waters in Ithaca, New York.

I'm not sure about this one; the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii has an IMAX. This is located on the same block as BYU Hawaii, and when I went there it seemed like the whole place including the IMAX was run by those college students.

Just wondering, do university cinemas normally do well? Does it depend on whether it is university owned, or just located on the the university, but independently owned. The university here does not have a theater, and I was wondering, if it had one, would it do any business?
