My experience in years past Halloween pulls out the worst in pranksters and punks, considering that Halloween falls on a friday this year, kids can stay out later to do more bad things.. What are your theatres plans to combat misbehaving for this wonderful holiday?? I know the big chains have security on the weekends anyway. But do you think there will be more security under the circumstances? What about the smaller complex's are they adding personel or lining up security for that weekend?

Most theatres have a no backpack or bag policy in effect. I just started mine up. I have been at theatres in the past where kids brought in super soakers filled with bleach and hit the crowd with that.. Not fun stuff let me tell you..

What do you think we have to look forward to ??

Well maybe im doing it all wrong,
Im screening THE THING in 70mm on Halloween as a late night show. But since it is a 18, we should just have film fans in.

Director's Cut of Alien! whoooo!!!!!

Our theater is directly connected to the mall, so any disturbances we can call in the mall security, and if that isn't enough we can call up the boys in blue. From what I heard we usually have an [expendable] employee (I pray it's me, yay!) that gets to wear the Front Row Joe costume and gives out candy.

Most theatres that I've worked at or run have given out popcorn to kids on Halloween and have had little trouble with any mischief or vandalism.

If you're in a problem area you could always sit on the roof with a box of old xenon... [evil]

My wedding anniversary is on the 31st and I will be on vacation. My assistants will have to put up with it. [evil] However, we are in a casino and we utilize their security...they rock.

On the other hand...I might want to stay and try the old xenon thing...sounds like fun [evil] [evil] [evil]

Whoa!! So like, if you tossed out some people, they'd be on the Nevada Gambling Commission's Blacklist right? You could make some serious dough extorting people [Smile]

The re-release of Alien isn't the only Halloween treat. In the Cut goes semi-wide on the 31st -- it's already getting good notices from its NYC/LA opening today. Double your pleasure, double your fun!

FWIW Sony is going for arthouse bookings on In the Cut.

Jarred- Could you get some pictures of that Front Row Joe costume? That would be hilarious- I have never seen one. Maybe our manager could order one (-I work for Cinemark too)? Any other days that you use it or just halloween?

The Front Row Joe costume were pricey when they were new, however since 1998 Front Row Joe has not been a corporate image of Cinemark. Although they do retain the trademark rights on him, he has not been made a part of any ads or theatre promotions I have seen in the past 5 years so you hopes of getting a FRJ outfit are really bleak.

A late-blooming triple treat: Sony will re-release Underworld to coincide with Halloween.

The local madstone tried to show Dead Alive at 8,10,12 last friday and this halloween. It bombed both weekends with no more than a handful attending. Probably 2 or 3 patrons for each showing.
