This is the opening weekend for Harry Potter in my area:

Reading Cinemas, Manville -- 3 prints, first show 11 AM, last show 11:15 PM Fri-Sat/10:30 PM Sun.

Loews New Brunswick -- 6 prints, first show 9 AM Fri/8:30 AM Sat-Sun , last show 11:15 PM Fri-Sat/10:45 PM Sun.

AMC Hamilton -- 6 prints, first show 11 AM, last show 10:30 PM Fri-Sat/10:20 PM Sun.

Is your Harry Potter schedule just as crazy?

Looking at Cinemark 17's schedule here, they have "only" 3 prints, 1st show at 9:45AM, last show at 10:45PM. Regal Cinema World 8 has booked 2 prints, which is almost unheard of there, but I can't get to there [I mean their ] online schedule right now -- regalcinemas.com doesn't resolve in DNS!!??

UPDATE: regalentertainmentgroup.com works. Cinema World 8 in Eugene has 2 prints, 1st show at 11:55AM, last show 10:30PM.

Daily first show is 10:10 AM (normally it's a little around noon) and the last show starts at 10:15 PM. On Friday and Saturday we have lateshows wich start at 11:10 PM at latest. The late show is ok because we normally get out around 2 AM anyway so no big loss there.

At my theater, Cinemark 10.... We have 2 prints, the first showtime is at 11:30 AM, and the last show is at 10:05 PM. The only thing "crazy" about our times is that we have a show at 6:15. This tends to tick off some people because they believe we do that on purpose in order to charge full price, instead of matinee price.

Most of the theaters in the Seattle area are starting with 8:00am or 8:30am shows. This looks like a scam to stack box office records in H. Potter's favor.
Who in hell takes their kids to see a movie at 8 in the morning??!!

There was an article in our local paper about all the parents who pulled out their kids from school to see it opening day.

Matthew said "This looks like a scam to stack box office records in Harry Potter's favor."

Let's compare.

Spiderman, with a runtime of 122 minutes ... possible schedule

11:00, 1:50, 4:40, 7:30, 10:20 (5 shows)

To get 5 shows off of one print of H. Potter, one would need to run shows at

8:45, 12:10, 3:35, 7:00, 10:25

Same number of shows ... longer movies sometimes require longer operating hours. It's no scam ... just a theater trying to capitalize on a high-grossing movie by offering more options. I seem to remember theaters running shows of Episode one round-the-clock opening weekend!

Per, I'm assuming you have a change over system? Not decked platters?? We have 5 prints at our 18-plex. I was really expecting more though because last year we got 7 print of Harry Potter. I can't believe an 8 AM start time. Our first show usually runs at 12:00 and last starts at 10:40. Now instead, we start 11:30-10:50. We're just playing less shows on each screen. Most of them only run 3 times a day! So far...we've sold out every Harry Potter show since opening on Friday (17 shows a day in total) and we have still sold out every evening show for 8 Mile (a total of 6 a night)

There were about 123 showings today of Harry Potter in the greater Seattle area according to ads in today's papers. Why go at 8am when it's showing every half hour somewhere?
