We are receiving about 300 sound panels this next month. Half of them are not covered. Does anyone have suggestions on the type of fabric for covering these or a contact where to get it from?
I wouldn't think the requirements would be too great except for them probably having to be flame retardant.
Thanks

I have used Cy Young Industries in the past. Carrie Young was very helpful and patient.

Sound panels are large fiberglass sheets that serve the purpose killing echo and acoustic bounce on the walls and ceilings of an auditorium. They are almost always covered with some type of fabric.

Here are some examples:
They can have murals on them as such:

They can have neat decorative designs:

Or be just plain.

Aaron,

Thanks for the cool pics. I understand. In the studio we use baffles which are free-standing pieces of fiberglass sound absortion material covered with fabric. The fabric is always acoustically transparant, like china silk or polyfoam or speaker grillcloth. They all allow sound to pass through to the sound absorbing material -- same principle as the wall panels.

Frank

PS -- in the recording studio, those panels which are usually on wheels so they can be positioned around a instrument or behind a microphone, are called gobos. Which is very weird because in stage jargon, the plates that they use in lighting instruments to project patterns are also called gobos.

We got our recent new wall coverings from Brejtfus.
here

They do curtain-type walls as well as the type Aaron posted above. Very helpful and cooperative sales and installation people.

Well since you are in canada they must have a ULC not UL frame spread certificate with them
Melfabo is probably the bigest fabric supplier to canada and they are in NY and can provide the certificates required
