It's official, Regal finally filed for Chapter 11 on Thursday 10/10/01.

Watch out, here come Anschutz making more money.

Only in America can you lose 1.57 billion dollars and still get to keep your job. Is this a great country or what?

Variety hinted a few weeks ago that Regal chairman/CEO Michael Campbell might be forced out in an Anschutz takeover.

Also spectacular is the fact that two Wall Street firms -- Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) and Hicks Muse Tate & Furst -- lost their shirt when Regal went Chapter 11. Merrill Lynch bought up UA in 1992 only to lose its shirt in UA's own Chapter 11 last year.

Jonathan - us limeys can go one better. The executive in charge of the company which runs Britain's railways lost UK£32bn and kept his job (in fact he eventually resigned, but not over that).
