Regal announced today that Thurs. Oct. 11 would be the last day for the Willow Lawn, a 4 screen that opened in '56 as a 811 seat single that debuted all the road shows and was the first in the area that had 70mm. It was converted to 4 screens by Cineplex Odeon in '90 and sold to Regal several years ago along with the rest of local chain Neighborhood Entertainment Inc. It ended its run doing artsy stuff and "urban" fare to next to no audience.
Also going is the Cloverleaf Cinema. Located in the lot of a dying mall, it was opened in the late 80s by Cineplex Odeon. It did great business for several years but as the better shopping centers migrated further out the customers went with them. Never more than a mediocre house, it will be missed by its employees more than the public.
