Cinema Supply Co. of Millersburg Pennsylvania whose motto for over two decades has been "Everything But The Film" has announced that as of April 1, 2001 it is terminating the concession and janitorial supply side of its business.

The company was started in the 70's by Marv Troutman, who as small independent exhibitor in what was then considered the hinterlands, was unable to get regular concession supply service from the larger outfits in the Philadelphia area.

The company's niche market has always been the smaller independent operators in the mid-atlantic region. The company cites increased costs and shrinking profit margins for their decision. It is obvious that the recent wave of bankruptcies hasn't helped ...as well as the fact that the smaller independent operator is becoming as extinct as the dinosaur!

For those of you who don't know him, Mr. Troutman has an interesting background having started out as a funeral parlor operator (well, maybe that's not too much of a stretch from movies!). I am familiar with one of his units, a 12 I belive. Biggest concession and lobby I've ever seen, and it was converted from an old discount store (he did break the floor and excavate down). He has the interesting policy of starting all shows at the same time--as I recall one at 7-7:30 and one at 9 something. Makes for an inteesting mob scene and traffic jam!

Marjack is a concession supplier for Hoyts Cinemas at least one branch there of. For there orders they are the best supplier that I have personally dealt with, but as a cinema supplier? Only time will tell
