I will have to drive by this theatre and see for sure but I think it may be closed.

I think this because the Marquee is totally blank on both sides. I don't think the wind and rain blew everything away. It is also wierd because there was an article in the DMN about the local theatres and it stated that Loews was going to keep operating Chisolm and Preston Park even though Cinemark is kicking their butts.

Anyone local know anything about it.

I understand they shut it down last week. No big loss really. Wait, no loss at all! That place was a horrible theater with those trademark medieval torture chairs in them. I don't think Cinemark specifically is what did it. I think that ANY other competition would've killed them. They were that bad.

I totally agree. Those theatres are WELL known for their horrible chairs, and often presentations to match. Yes the Cinemark certinaly hurt the other theatres in the area, such as the former Berkley Square 8, but even that is doing well now its is current incarnation. When I talked to someone at the Studio Movie Grill about 9months ago, he told me he had heard through the rumor mill back then that it was closing soon. So it supprised me that it stayed open that long.

I've heard reports that the UA Cine theatre on Yale Blvd. has closed or is closing. I used to go there when I was at SMU. Big, big theatre. I think they divided it up into two screens later.

UA has been looking to get rid of that theatre as long as I can remember, but has opted to keep it open as it could not renegotiate the lease to let them out of it. As soon as the lease is up, I expect to see them burn rubber out of there.

The theatre has been devided into 2, 1 at about 400+ seats the other, not enough really count. By looking at the outside of the building you can imagine how big the screen was at one time. The even had Dimension 150 in there at one point in its life.

There are now no longer any theatres left in the Collin Creek area of Plano. GCC and AMC have been closed for sometime, and Loews has been closed for at least a month.
