Posts: 1431 From: Waukee, IA Registered: Dec 2004 posted 08-11-2019 04:50 PM                        CINEMA: Regal Warren East, Wichita, KS AUDITORIUM: 13, SEAT: General Admission PRESENTATION: Regal Orange is the new Crown standard stadium seating with Mystery Meat Digital PRESENTATION PROBLEMS: Idiots behind me brought their fucking toddler to this??? RATING: Three stars (out of four) THE PLOT: Sometimes a book writes itself. Wackiness ensues. File this under the “Stranger Things” phenomenon as a period piece focused around a teen horror. It’s even PG-13, which really begs the question just how the hell Annabelle Comes Home ended up with an R. This is FAR scarier and more graphic. At least it’s not set in the eighties. Let us take you back to Halloween 1968 where kids end up in a haunted house and take a book belonging to Sarah. Horror stories start to appear on blank pages in the book and then actually happen. The movie looks pretty great and is paced relatively well. Guillermo del Toro had a minor hand in this so the monsters look pretty amazing. There’s a cool drive-in scene to boot.  |  IP: Logged
