Another GREAT foreign film! This is another one of those laid back sensual food films. Minimal music to distract you (and I really like the music they DO use). Many extreme closeups. One man steps into another's shoes, though I really wonder what he was expecting. A relationship develops between a German and a Jew (from a religious family, though she is not). Tension develops as the woman gets close to determining the identity of the man. But, in the final scene, she smiles.

the devouring of the cake/plate licking is by far one of the most memorable scenes from a movie this year!
