When it comes to raunchy comedies, my expectations tend to be pretty low because there are far more duds than hits. With that being said, I went into Why Him with some hope for at least an entertaining movie. Unfortunately the movie is a let down. While it does have some laughs, most of the jokes are easy to see coming. Rather than smart writing, the movie relies too heavily on visual gags, slapstick, and awkwardness.

Why Him really sits in this awkward place between a raunchy comedy that doesn't work and a feelgood family movie that doesn't completely work either. The end result will leave you wanting for something better.

After watching the trailer I expected this movie to be absolutely awful.

It's not awful. It's not great or anything exceptional, but I've seen worse movies.

I tend to get bored with non-stop cursing and swearing in movies; after a while I start to tune it out.

It's ok for what it is, and that's about it. Take Meet the Parents, add a lot of cussing, and you get something like this.

I haven't seen it, but your last sentence is exactly what I was expecting (going by the trailer).
