I have not seen the 1960 version of The Magnificent Seven, nor Seven Samurai, so I was able to watch this new film without any expectations. While I thought Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt were good in their respective roles, I found the other members of the "Seven" to almost be obligatory role players. The actions sequences were well done, but I felt the end sequence went on too long heading toward an obvious conclusion. I also felt the dialog bordered on cheesy at times, especially Vincent D'Onofrio's character.

Overall I found it to be mildly entertaining, but forgettable. I give it a B-.

Now check out the 1960 version with Yul Brynner, and if you up to a 3 hour Japanese film, Seven Samurai.
