We just screened The Diary of a Teenage Girl to our employees and crew here at The Athena Cinema in Athens Ohio. (we do complementary Friday afternoon screenings for our employees to keep them up to date on our shows)

Plot: The coming of age story of a 15 year old girl in 1970's San Francisco.

We all really enjoyed this film, even the jockish bros who had low expectations.

Bel Powley is a breakout actress who nails this performance. (whoa those eyes!)

Kristen Wiig's small part was developed and on point.

Alexander Skarsgård's creepy boyfriend character was a guy you hate to love.

Many cringe worthy moments in this film. But the soundtrack, animation and journey of the characters kept us all happy.

I was kind of shocked by the many semi-explicit sex scenes. All around though the story and it's cast made this an unique movie. Best use and integration of animation in quite some time too.
