I saw this at a special free screening for Alliance Francaise members at Cinema Como tonight.

I rather enjoyed the indepth cinematic treatment of Paris - it certainly showcased the city well although the gratuitous smoking was a concern.

However the plot was not very enticing and the film generally was slow. It is a bit like a filmed play - something like the Royal Tenebaums. The plot is just plain dull and no amount of Parisian photography can compensate.

It was interesting to see Thierry L'Hermite in an english speaking role but unfortunately this film was not a good vehicle to expose him to an English speaking audience. Kate Hudson and Naomi Watts are ok in their roles and the rest of the cast is servicable but the film was a stinker before shooting began.

Save your money and go and see a real French film instead.

Verdict: 2 star out of 5

cheers Peter
