I watched this movie for the first time late last week, one night at my house. (Sony 57" 16:9 set, movie was scope).

I enjoyed the movie although I felt it went a bit slowly at times. It wasn't slow enough to be boring, since I was constantly curious to see how everything was going to be worked out. The James Leer character (played by Tobey Maguire) was very interesting. He made me think of the son of Colonel Fitts character in American Beauty (except maybe not quite that far out).

This is a movie I'd tried to get some friends to watch with me on several occasions, but nobody ever bit. It's definitely worth seeing. If others in this group have seen this movie, I'd like to hear your opinions.

I like this movie a lot. I thought it was an interesting choice as Curtis Hanson's follow-up to L.A. CONFIDENTIAL. The more I see this film, the more I like it. Michael Douglas very good. But my absolute favorite part of the film is when Robert Downey, Jr. reaches up and snatches that one piece of paper out of the air, and waves it over his head as if to say, "It's OK. I got it." There's nothing quite as funny as that.

The Wonder Boys is a favorite of mine. I can't quite put my finger on why it is so funny, but we laughed ourselves senseless in the theater the first time, and subsequent viewings hold up well. All of the performances are top notch and the direction is about as flawless as it gets.
