"The Replacements" was, for the most part, an enjoyable movie for me. It had some funny moments, but not as many laughs as I'd hoped for. When I go to see a comedy, I want something that will make me laugh and cheer me up, like Scary Movie and Road Trip did, and although this movie didn't quite do that, at least it did not depress me like Loser did. Keanu Reeves is looking a little older and more worn in this movie than in in his previous movies. Toward the end of the movie, you're really pulling for him, although you know exactly what is going to happen ahead of time (very predictable story). You know from the start that he's going to get the girl and is going to win the important game, so I don't consider this sentence to be a spoiler.

Attendance was not as good as I expected for a Friday night 7PM showing at the nicest theatre in Huntsville. When I entered the auditorium at 10 minutes until 7PM, I was the first person in the auditorium, which is very odd for a new movie in this theatre on Friday night. The auditorium only filled to 20 to 25 percent capacity, which is very poor for opening night. 15 minutes of commercials and trailers were played! Ugh.

Got to see this on video last week.

I was one of those ..."I know nothing about this movie, I've never seen an ad or trailer, I've never seen a poster" unknown sort of films.

I have to say I enjoyed it even though it was entirely predictable. Keanu works well and is believable in roles where he is supposed to be dumb...why do you think that is?

6/10 ...Recommended if you've seen 50% of what else is on offer at the vidoe store.
