Anyone know of the current distributor of The Marx Brothers, Duck Soup - 1933? MGM/SONY's right's expired and they don't know who has it now.

Matt
Ran this in a rep house several years ago and I think the print came from Universal. I believe they had alot of Paramount films in their library at one time.

This is a Paramount film, not MGM. As such, it would be distributed by either Paramount or Universal (which distributes some early Paramount titles).

Wherever you get it (sorry I don't know offhand), make sure to ask for their nice brand-new print.

Thanks for the info. guys. I should have said Paramount's rights expired not MGM/Sony. I'll be checking with Universal --- and yes it is Universal.

DCP (Universal)

1.37 (but labeled as 1.33)
Audio is 2.0 (Dual Mono)
TRT is 1:08:42
Credit offset is 01:08:07

Note that the Titles and credits are window-boxed, as is at least one scene with newspaper headlines.

My guess is that this is an old master. Universal is doing new 4K scans of the Marx Bros. films, so I expect there will be a new DCP in the next year or so.

Let's hope they re-do the sound too. [Wink]
