Le Cercle Rouge [aka The Red Circle] (1970)

New prints struck in 2002, restored 40 minutes of cut footage. "Presented" by John Woo.

  • US distributor: Rialto Pictures
  • Arrives Fedex from ICS in Glendale, CA
  • 8 reels
  • FLAT 1.85, hard matte at 1.66
  • mono French soundtrack
  • English laser subtitles
  • 140 minutes
  • no lab cues
Print #4 has about a dozen hairline black emulsion scratches throughout the film, and one wider green emulsion scratch that comes and goes. The hairline scratches would probably go away with wet-gate or Filmguard. Otherwise a pretty decent print, someone before us has taken care of it, replaced some heads and tails, made sure all the splices are good, etc.

should be shown 1.66 or 1.75. even the latter is pushing it, as regards fitting the titles on screen.
