Scarface (1983). The Oliver Stone film, reissued in September 2003.

  • Distributor: Universal
  • Depot: TES
  • 10 reels
  • SCOPE 2.39:1
  • SRD/SR
  • Kodak 2383 stock, ESTAR base
The new sound negative is dated September 4, 2003. Being from 1983, it'd technically be the "old" 2.39:1, not that a few mils makes a great difference.

You mean the Brian DePalma film, right? (Stone only co-wrote it) [Wink]

Your info is for the 2003 reissue.

Original 1983 prints were LPP stock and Dolby A/mono dual inventory.

Anyone know if there were any 70mm blowups?

There were some mag prints struck too. A print I handled (original release) was on Fuji stock, faded, and mono.

Um, yeah, that's what I meant, Aaron. What was I typing? [uhoh]

in70mm.com has a thorough but non-definitive list of 70mm blowups. Scarface isn't listed for '83 or '84.

In Los Angeles the original engagements the only stereo prints were 4-Track Mag, everything else was mono.
