Michael Goucher claims: SR/SRD/SDDS/DTS

Charles Everett claims: SRD/SR

Well, which is it? Multiple print inventory, or is only one of those claims correct?

Ok guys, we're going to have to stop trusting those silly "sheets" that get stuffed into the film cans, for clearly there is incorrect information being posted here and for that the IMDB suffices just fine.

PLEASE do NOT post in this forum unless you have personally had your hands on a print. You saw a print? No good. You read something from the studio that had information on it? No good. You stood next to someone building up the print? No good. Let's please strive to keep this forum 100% accurate for the good of everyone. Thanks.

Sorry Darryl, I was referring to the initial two posts that had conflicting information. It appears that the first two posts were both partially right and both partially wrong. We need to all work together to ensure those things do not happen in the future for everyone's benefit.

The marketing prints I received here at 20th Century Fox were "Showprints" which are different from release prints. We have invitational screenings for press and word of mouth in houses that only have sdds digital. These "showprints" may have been sdds encoded while release prints were not. But this title released in October of last year. Why has it become a hot topic now?

I think it came up because in the 3rd post in this thread, Michael Coate noted a discrepancy in the preceding 2 posts. Mike is a writer and sort of a technical historian for Widescreen Review magazine and sometimes he uses this film-tech forum as a technical reference. Mike believes in being as accurate with the facts as he can be and he doesn't want to publish or propagate bogus information. As Brad & Mike have pointed out, the IMDB is not known for its technical accuracy. If technical data posted in this forum comes only from film handlers who have personally inspected the print, the information here should be dead-on accurate.

It came up now because it was not noticed back when From Hell was originally released and the conflicting information was posted. Also, there have been a few such inconsistencies here over the last month, so we're trying to put an end to it. Nothing more.
