** Description: 232 pages with index. Blue cloth covers with gold gilt lettering. Richly illustrated with black & white photos of vintage equipment.

** Eleven (11) Chapters, as follows:
1. Modern Sound-On-Film Recording Equipment
2. Western Electric Sound-Film Equipment
3. B.T.H. Sound-Film Equipment
4. R.C.A. Sound-Film Equipment
5. British Acoustic Sound-Film Equipment

7. The Installation of Sound-Film Equipment
8. Maintenance of Sound-Film Equipment
9. Fault Tracing and Repair
10. Installation of Sound-Reinforcement Equipment for Theatres
11. Public-Address Equipment

** From the Preface: "This book has been designed to bring together into a convenient compass all the information necessary for a proper understanding of sound-film projection equipment....It is believed that this clear exposition of the principles of construction of the various types of equipment, followed by detailed information on their operation and maintenance will provide cinema engineers and operators and installation and service engineers with a source of reference which they will find invaluable in their everyday work."

** Condition: Used, but in very good shape. Binding tight.
Covers very lightly worn on edges, with no fraying. Gilt lettering still bright on front cover. Spine slightly faded, but lettering still relatively bright and easy to read. Six small spots of slight discoloration to covers, three on front, three on back, including 1/3" strip along top of back.
Pages clean and unmarked, except as follows: Previous owner's name and date written in ink in top corner of first blank page; Small bookseller's sticker in bottom corner inside front cover; Barely noticeable ink lines written in next to selections on a handful of pages for highlighting purposes; Barely noticeable, small, neat ink notations written next to one or two diagrams (e.g., converting measurement given in inches to millimeters); Some light brown speckling on endpages, front and back.

** Scarcity: Published in Great Britain, and tough to find in the United States, especially in nice condition. Besides this one, there are currently only ten copies of this book available on the online used book market, and only two of those are copies of this 1945 first edition. Of those two, one is in poor condition and sells for $37.76 (shipping not included), and the other is in somewhat better condition and sells for $73.60.
The price distribution for all ten available used copies is as follows:
$27.50 - $32.50: Three (3) copies (all 1951 edition)
$35.00 - $40.00: Two (2) copies (1951 & 1945 eds.)
$45.00: One (1) copy (1946 ed.)
$56.00: One (1) copy (1951 ed.)
$70.00 - $80.00: Two (2) copies (1945 & 1946 eds.)
$94.00: One (1) copy (1949 ed.)
