Hi all, I've recently lost the lens cap for our office's cinema projector. I know, I'm careless.

I just want to know the usual size of the lens of NEC cinema projectors so I can find one that fits it. And does camera lens caps work just as long as its the same size?

Any help would be appreciated.

You can use any plastic cap that fits your lens.

You can even use the top from a can of Pringle's Potato Chips if you make sure it's clean first. (Ask me how I know this! [Wink] )

You don't even really need a lens cap if you are otherwise making sure the lens is clean before showings, anyhow.

Unless the projector goes unused for long periods between showings, remembering to remove and re-insert the lens cap can be a PITA.

A pringles cap! You're a genius. How do you know? Did you just lose a lens cap for a projector, too?

I'm gonna try that as soon as I get back in the office.

I've got a collection of over 100 vintage cameras.

Some have lens caps. Some are missing caps. Others, I don't know if they even had lens caps when they were new. If I am missing a lens cap and can't find a suitable replacement at the camera store I use whatever I can find.

Medicine bottle tops. Coffee can lids. Whatever I can find that fits.

Use some vinyl electrical tape to shim and reinforce the edges of th cap if you need to. Sometimes you'll need a little bit of ingenuity.

Pringle's can tops are a perfect fit for the end of the LNB horn of certain types of satellite dishes and they are virtually transparent to microwaves. They are great for keeping rain, snow, dirt and insects from building up and ruining your signal reception. [Wink]
