I'm taking a trip to Las Vegas this week and into the weekend. I was wondering if anyone has visited this theater and what I can expect? Do they mask their screens? Do they have good picture and sound quality? Has anyone watched a movie in their JB-X auditorium? Thanks!

Let me know if they still have the disco ball in the lobby.

Also, if you can, ask if the managers upgraded the X-Box 360 to a X-Box One in the office.

The above two things should tell you all you need to know about the operations of that location.

I have yet to find an acceptable theater in Lost Vegas, or here at home in Salt Lake Silly for that matter. It's really not why people go to Vegas...

Gordon and I were at the Brendan Palms 14 during CinemaCon. The DTS-X presentation was pretty nice, although I really didn't understand what the chinese mermen and merwomen (merladies?) did to deserve being shot with machine guns.

The sound was pretty impressive, both from the DTS-X and the Atmos a couple years before that.

I honestly don't recall the masking (perhaps Gordon remembers), and I wasn't particularly impressed by the picture quality.

Sandwiches were good though. Not as good as the ones at NEC school though. THOSE were delicious.

Nothing to report about the disco ball, nor any upgrade in their gaming setup. The Brendan sign was failing to light up completely though, which I thought an opportunity for improvement.

Interesting, I went to one of the DTS-X screenings. I was less than impressed. The dialog was completely drowned out. They also demoed the GDC 16 channel system. On the same clip the dialog was fine unlike the DTS-X.

Yes, Stephan, you are right - I was thinking of the GDC 16-channel system. The DTS-X did have somewhat muddied dialog.

Interesting! The GDC 16 channel system is DTS-X with rendering in the media block (like USL).
