So. Out of all of the available technologies, which is the best? Best picture and best sound? If money were no object?

Really? A teaser subject combined with an impossible answer (subject to too many opinions and variables).

So since you offered such a question:

70mm 6-track Dolby SR stereo...nothing beats it yet.

Cheap Trick. They still sound just as good as they did in 1976 and they're still out there gettin' it done night after night.

Best marshmallows: Campfire brand, they're way better than the much-more-popular Kraft.

I can't believe it's been several hours already and nobody else is chiming in with "The Best" whatever. Buncha slackers.

Grimaldi's Pizza isn't bad either being coal fired and thin crust, but a franchise operation.

Now the OP did say BEST TECHNOLOGIES and further best picture and best sound...so you can take your marsh mellows and roast them!

However, Mike's Cheap Trick probably qualifies. I don't think Karate Kid won best picture or sound but I did get that it had "You're the Best" song in it.

I still stand behind 70mm 6-track Dolby SR stereo as the BEST picture AND sound and technology.

The best technology is the washing machine. I mean c'mon, how crappy would it be to have to wash all your clothing by hand?

Virgil Fox turned many people on to classical organ music with his Rodgers electronic touring organ.

George Wright made the theatre organ famous by producing vinyl stereo recordings for Hi-Fi enthusiasts to use demonstrating their wonderful vacuum tube music systems.

For movies - IMAX 15kW 2D 15/70 "GT" with the Sonics Associates sound system, either 6ch 35mm mag or Sonics 3xCD source.
For anything that fits the parameters - Pink Floyd "Division Bell" live tour show.

Best technology -- the thermos bottle.

Keeps hot thing hot and cold things cold.

But how does it know?
