We now have the first official announcements about the discontinuation of 35mm distribution in germany with 'fixed' dates. These are smaller german distributors, one has ended 35mm distribution as of now (current release is last with 35mm prints), another one with their next release in august.

Any similar statements from other parts of the world? I know this is nothing new for scandinavia and NL.

From what I understand, the digital is nearing the end of conversion. I heard there are about 300 prints still made for the North American market. Canada is close to 100% digital, in the Greater Toronto Area there are 5-6 35mm theatres left as these are non-chain cinemas that refuse to believe that film will be impossible to get, one of these theatres was able to get a print of Man of Steel however there were a significant number of hurdles in place before Warner would give them a print.

There are two IMAX venues still using film in Toronto and one in Niagara.

In Slovenija, the last 35mm releases are out during the summer, but after autumn it is all digital, with just a few rare films on 35mm. The conversion of theaters to digital seems to be painfully slow. Small municipal one screens are struggling the most and it seems quite a few will have to close or be limited to E-cinema blu-ray screenings of national films and documentaries.

In NL no more 35mm for new releases, in BE practically the same.

Heard last week from one of the distributors in New Zealand, they estimate two months, they are just on hold for the last few of one chain...
