I took some logs recently from a DSS200, it came across as the standard zip file and I unzipped it expecting to see a set of logs like from a projector but was faced with something unreadable. Is there a particular program or way they should be unzipped so they can be read.

No, you should find several text files within the ZIP file.

Despite what their extension may be...open them with your favorite text editor. I use Notepad ++ (and it is free).
