I saw THE THREE MUSKETEERS in Real D at Regal's Pearl Highland in Pearl City near where I live yesterday afternoon and one of the trailers they ran in 3-D was for STAR WARS Episode #1 and it had indicated it will play one day only on November 10th. Is this for real? If it is, I cannot understand why G. Lucas went to all that expense and trouble to show it for only one day. Disney had already made almost a hundred million dollars with THE LION KING after extending it's original two week run and it is still playing in two theatres in 3-D here in Honolulu and continue to make money. If Disney can do it, I am sure Lucas can too but there is no way he can do it in one day.

BTW, I think Lucas should have started with Episode #4 followed by #5 and #6 and then #1, #2 & #3 in 3-D in the order they were released. I know a lot of fans do not like the first three episodes but love the remaining original three films. If Lucas started with the original three, it will give fans the opportunity to see the films in 3-D in a theatre and even if they do not like the 3-D, they could enjoy seeing them again on the big screen

The 3-D effects in the trailer was very shallow but not too bad in my opinion.

PLEASE DISREGARD THE ABOVE POST

I should have done some research first about the 3-D of Episode #1 . I just did and learned it will be out on November 10 of next year and not next month. When I saw the November date in the trailer, I assumed it was this year. Sorry!

[Confused] I see you mentioning November, when the trailer says February...

I assume Claude was a victim of marketing hype. I hate that they ONLY advertise the opening date. "On February 12, the story continues" etc. As if THAT is the only day to see the show. It is so stupid.

I actually didn't mean to come across like that. At the time I posted that I was engaged in a debate with someone that was really pissing me off and I was feeling very surly.

It happens to all of us, Claude. You were not the only one who has been fooled by the wording on the trailers and posters. Sometimes the film companies state in their advertising that a re-release will only be available in theaters for two weeks only to have it stay five, six weeks (cough cough Lion King cough cough).
I've also had people who seldom go to the movies except when a religious-themed movie opens inquire if the movie will only play that Friday, or through Sunday only - not knowing the movies are booked, USUALLY, on 7 day increments. And if their parishioners flocked to said theater that weekend and filled up the auditorium that the movie will likely play another week, and probably another week after that...

That's called "hedging your bets." For every Lion King or Hannah Montana Concert Movie that's had its limited run extended, Disney's had an X-Games or Jonas Brothers Concert Movie whose limited run should have been done after one day.

I forgot about the X Games.
The independent movie Creature should have only played for a day as well...I believe it did just as well as X Games.
I didn't run the Jonas Brothers. [Smile]

Still not as bad as the original trailer for The Lion King where it mentions that it is the 32nd animated movie from Disney Studios.

Customer: "Is the movie really only gonna be 30 seconds long?" [Roll Eyes]

Even just one showing of this movie is way way too much to take 3-D or not!
