i have been screening some VHS tapes on the big screen using a geffen but have had issues with sporadic but very loud audio static

i have the same problem whether plugging the stereo output directly into the geffen (which is then routed into the external 6 channel on a Dolby cp500 processor) or plugging only video into the geffen and doing audio thru a yamaha receiver which converts the stereo into six channel and plugs into the cp500

i'm wondering if this is a problem intrinsic to playing VHS tapes of varying age in this way on a big screen sound system or if there is something different I can try

Try any similar audio (CD, etc) and see if it sounds OK.

The input level of the 6 channel input is quite low; you may need to pad down the level sent in.

If you are using non sync 1 or 2, you should be about right. Louis
