Hello,

I want to creat an user interface for my Barco projectors.
The idee is to have a page with lamp status, projector status, lamp runtime, ... per screen but on one singel page (23 screens on 1 page).

Did anybody made such an interface or does somebody has some usefull advice how to extract the requested information from the projectors?

Thank you in advance for all the replies.
Kris

SNMP is your friend: you can grab - using SNMP - the desired informations.

Programing in C++ / visual C has been a while (sinds high school ...)
Anybody who has another way of getting to that information?

Hi Kris,

You can do SNMP queries from other languages as well, not just C/C++. In less than 60 seconds I found SNMP client libraries / sample code for C# and Visual Basic and I know PHP has a SNMP module.

I don't see any way to avoid programming completely, so Google "<your programming language of choice> +SNMP" and start tinkering. Reading SNMP values doesn't have to be any more complicated than:

----
//Read the name of the local computer (localhost)
SNMPObject objct = new SNMPObject("1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5.0");
SNMPAgent agnt = new SNMPAgent("127.0.0.1");
string myValue = objct.getSimpleValue(agnt);
Console.WriteLine("My value is : " + myValue);

It is quite possible that via serial (or Ethernet) one might be able to poll for such information. Barco tends to have a uniform communication set. On my.barco.com they have the "short list" for the DCinema projectors (which does not list the commands you are looking for but it does list the communication protocol). Perhaps obtaining Barco's full command list you could obtain the full list of what you need.

I recommend contacting Barco's technical support to see what is possible.

I know there are people of Barco on this forum. They can always contact me by PM if they have some extra information.

Thanks in advance.

The USL Remote Theater Manager might be of interest. See http://www.uslinc.com/products-control-RTM100.html .

Barco's support site has the RS-232 commands for use over serial or IP. I developed a basic tool to turn off the lamp over IP every night at a certain time. Barco's part of that was a very simple command. The harder part was the IP socket protocol. I use C but if you can script it would be even easier. If you were interested I can give you the C code that I used so you can see what's involved. I used basic C libraries so it can be compiled on any platform.

You can expect an email from me with the c file that will open the shutter of a barco projector.

EDIT: I was not allowed to send you an email address.
Please email me at trevorc@laika.com and I'll be happy to send you the file.
