Is it a standard practice to project 2-D movies through a Real-D XLS double-lensed set-up on Sony 4K projectors? I have now seen my second 2-D film projected this way, and wondered about it. Assuming the movies are actually 2K and not 4K, does the 2 2K images overklapped make up for the brightness that a full 4K upscaled image would give it? I assume the brightness is being cut down due to the filters in front of the dual lens set-up.

What you describe appears to be standard practice with all the Sony/RealD installs I've done so far.
