Does anyone know if it would be possible to convert an NEC NC800C projector to take a larger bulb than the standard 1.25kw?
Ideally a cheaper larger bulb too as the bulbs for the NEC are very expensive.

I don't think so, the original bulb is already a special high efficiency type.

If you need more light, get a screen with a higher gain, or maybe a more light efficient 3D system, if the latter is the cause of your question.

No...the NC800C uses a very special lamp that was custom made for NEC by Ushio. In fact, it, theoretically, ONLY goes to the NC800C (and IS8...since they are identical projectors). As such, there is normally a 4pc minimum, they are only OEMed though NEC and they are particularly expensive since there are not many of them made annually.
