Here in Sydney, Australia we are finally seeing the roll out of the new technology. Greater Union George St already has at least 6 of there 18 cinemas converted. Reading cinemas new complex at Rouse Hill, 2 of their screens are equiped with dci projectors only (with no 35mm projectors for those screens). The rest of the complex is 35mm.

Any other news?

Cameron,

Any idea how this is being funded?
I understand most (if not all) of the 3D systems in Australia were put in by Kodak for little investment by the exhibitor.
I also know one independent in Queensland has invested his own money in it.
But now, with your news about GU and Reading, along with Hoyts at Chadstone, what is the financial plan?

Tim, I havn't gone and had a look yet, I imagine quite good! Heck I'm impressed by Blueray! Let alone the DCI I saw several years ago now.

Peter, Sorry no idea on funding. I am under the impression that Greater Union is using different servers and projectors for testing purposes. Reading are using Dolby servers. All I can suggest is that the ball is rolling so perhaps a chat to a distributor? or someone higher up the cinema companies.
