I was thinking.. in the cinema you guys work in.. What do you use for screen ads i mean 10sec still ads.

Do you use slide projector or digital projector?

We are using Christie LW25 digital projector and the ads come from computer powered by Scala info channel designer. That is only for the ads, Cinemeccanica Vic5 take care of the movie and the trailers [Smile]

We start using digital advertising system for 10 years ago. Before we had slide projectors.

How is it in your cinema?

Gunnar, we use an Atlab-modified Panasonic that can also show features originate on video. we can also show features from DVDs but don't because its crap.

We did have a good 35mm slide presentation but the digital pre-show is better. My wife is a graphic designer so the show looks great. We do not chase ads - we only present community announcements, house and coming attraction info.

Used to use Kodak Ektagraphic III slide projectors. They were OK after a few servicings to correct problems with machine gunning.

Now we use a digital system featuring Hitachi CP-X 430 projectors. They are much better than the CP-X 250 and CP-X 328 models I've seen at other theaters in our company. The digital systems look far more professional, but sometimes I fear customers believe we are just running film on DVD's since the projectors have a time delay (warm up, I guess) before they actually power up. You know customers . . . they know everything about digital . . . right. [Roll Eyes]

Like Ron we also use a Panasonic DLP for ads in one cinema and slides in the other two. Digital motion ads do look great , we have them saved as mpeg2 files on media player that is interfaced with automation. definately better than slides , the only drawback being we only have about 4 minutes of ads on the dlp so the glode is on and off all day for short periods so the globe ($800 globe) does not last very long. The Kodak slide machines are far more economic to run.

We have 14 Christie LW-25s and four LW-40s video projectors for the big auditoriums. It's all threw the Kodak Digital pre-show management system. Our pre-show content is provided by this lazy little company call Cinema Screen Media which they -never- update. I'm still running the Monster House promo spot a week after we get rid of the movie and a slew of the "digital" slides are promo for Cars, Click, and the Devil Wears Prada. Of which my theater doesn’t have any more. It’s really more of just a joke.

I'm excepting when Cinemark takes over at the Century's our pre-show is going to change drastically and become more intrusive and obnoxious. I despise any thing pre-show, and always will. But hey, at least it's not rolling stock film ads before the previews..
