I couldn't figure out what forum to put this in but I guess this is OK because it's a booth equipment question.

On recently opened new builds from AMC, Regal and other big chains are they putting in D-cinema across the board or are they using 35mm. If 35mm, are they still able to get new 35mm equipment or are they using used/refurbished?

Regal is opening a new 15-screen here in about a month. The newspaper ran an article that quoted Regal saying there will be "2 high-definition screens" which probably means D-Cinema. I expected more than that.

Do the Roadrunner projectors qualify as "hi-def", given how that term is generally used?

Most likely they are talking about the ability to run concerts using the NCM equipment. But they could be refering to DLP but you would think they would use that term or DCinema when refering to that.

Right now AMC, Regal & Cinemark are working with NCM to try and put a business plan together for DCinema. What the status is on that is still up in the air for now. Currently all new builds are using new equipment for Cinemark for now anyway.

No, No no.

Roadrunners are used for HD concerts and events, however they would be installed in each auditorium for the First Look, so that can't be what they are referring to in the ad. They are most likely referring to 2 screens capable of DLP and 35mm.

For the most part large chains do not feel that it is time to move forward aggressively on digital cinema yet. In fact the most DLP projectors here have been installed by a smaller chain.
