The negative of Vicente Minnelli's film LUST FOR LIFE is 61 years old but that is what they used to recently create a blu ray of the movie. The credit states the film was photographed in Metrocolor but in actuality, it was Anscocolor. After the original negative was scanned at 4k, I am sure a lot of restoration work was done in addition to color correction resulting in movie with dazzling picture and color quality. It was so fantastic, I felt I was watching an original print made from a negative that was new.

I saw LUST FOR LIFE during it's first run at a theatre and many. times after that on tape and laserdisc and the movie has been one of my favorite all these years. It stars Kirk Diouglas as Vincent Van Gough and Anthony Quinn as Paul Gauguin and Quinn won a best supporting Oscar for his performance in the film.
