Does anyone know if any manufacturer is applying the RealD 3D LCD polarizing system to the home video market? Seems that the whole purpose someone would choose to go the video projection route for their home theatre would be so they would screen a 3D title for a larger audience than what it typically comfortable for an audience viewing a Flat Panel display.

That said, once you are screening for numbers larger than say 3 or 4 people, the whole active, battery powered glasses becomes really problematic. How does one keep track of battery life. No active glasses that I have seen have battery life indication that can tell you if the battery will last an entire movie, so unless you put in new batteries for every pair of glasses you have, there is always the possibility that the batteries in one or more glasses will die in the middle of a movie -- probably the worst aspect of battery powered glasses.

It seems that a RealD-type system could easily be placed in front of a home video projector that would flip polarization between Left eye and Right eye images. The only addition issue would be the silver screen which are readily available. I am surprised that Real-D itself hasn't come out with a home version. I am even more surprised that some tech savvy enthusiast hasn't constructed one themselves and published in Popular Mechanics (is there still such a publication?).

Where does the ReadD active polarizer get its L/R eye information? Would that information be easily extracted from a BRay player?
