After the critical bashing of the image on the HD-DVD of "Spartacus" you'd think Uni would have made sure the blu version was gorgeous. Apparently that is not the case.

Universal should take more care. I am interested in the upcoming "Psycho" blu-ray and eventually the other Hitchcock films as well as assorted classics from their catalog. Of course their signature classic monster series is high up on my want list. I will not, howver, pre-order Universal discs until I see at least one review and preferably two or three so I have some idea of the quality of the transfer. On the other hand when I see a classic or catalog title from Warner Brothers I order it without hesitation. I just watched "Kelly's Heroes" last weekend and for a film of it's age without any "restoration" it looked and sounded wonderful. I am looking forward to "Where Eagles Dare" (first time seeing it) this weekend.

Add Fox/MGM to the list. Waiting to hear before I buy "Escape From New York".
