And the picture quality is really, really good.

That is all for now.

I don't live in your world where there is only VHS and LaserDisc. In my world there is also VCD and Beta. Oh, and Blu-ray.

But yeah, I haven't seen many if any real movies that have a picture quality this good on Blu-ray.

I added this to my Netflix queue on your recommendation. It will be here in 350 discs or so.

It can't be better than the Baraka blu-ray. That would simply be impossible.

It seems "Wizard of Oz" and "Gone With The Wind" are each being re-scanned in 8K from the three original Technicolor camera negatives. Probably won't equal the visual quality of "Baraka" but it should be very interesting to see.

Hey, where did my response go? Must have had a database crash somewhere after Brad's post because I responded to it.

Anyway, I said that it doesn't look as good as Baraka, but it looks really good and better than most 35mm-sourced material. I don't know if it was an 8K scan, but probably a higher resolution scan than most movies get. Why they chose Primal Fear of all movies for this is beyond me. But hey, every movie should have a super high-res scan.

It would be interesting to know when Paramount had the HD master created and what techniques were used.

Catalog titles on Blu-ray are often hit and miss in terms of image quality. It seems the ones with lackluster image quality are using old HD masters originally created for DVD release. Those old masters may have used less accurate telecine methods than a film scan "datacine" approach. Even a master acquired via film scanning several years ago will not compare well to scans done on the most modern film scanners in use today.
