Any fans of this HBO series here? I don't have HBO so never got to see it, but have always been a fan of Garry Shandling.

Favorite joke:
I once made love for an hour and ten minutes. It was on the night you push the clocks ahead, but still...

Anyway, I was convinced by the rave reviews to buy the 4-disk set, "Not Just The Best of the Larry Sanders Show."

This is brilliant stuff. If you are into talk shows at all, you'd enjoy this. Shandling plays Larry Sanders, host of a "Tonight"-like show. It follows his career (both "on air" and behind the scenes) as his show treads on shaky ground with the network. Anyone who likes the "Seinfeld" style of ensemble comedy would surely like this. Even the DVD menus and the packaging are funny. The set has 22 episodes, lots of extra interviews and such, several commentary tracks and so on.

Larry Sanders was hands down THE BEST show on TV during it's run. Rip Torn was flawless. I loved when Bravo re-ran it a couple years back. I highly recommend this show to everyone that thinks canned laughter is insulting.

Which episodes are contained on the "Not Just The Best of the Larry Sanders Show."? DVD.

I have the R1 Season 1 DVD that I got on import (since i'm in the UK) and the UK VHS "Best of" video that has 5 episodes in it.

They should release all the seasons on DVD. [Roll Eyes]

Great news....Shout Factory has acquired the rights to "Larry Sanders" and plans to release a complete-series set this September.

Shout Factory is the company which released the "It's Garry Shandling's Show" box set and Shandling was pleased with their work, so the Sanders set got the go ahead. [thumbsup]

It's on the internet, so it has to be true

The best episode of the Larry Sanders show was when Letterman told Sanders that he was getting Tom Snyder for the slot after his because that bit aired before it actually happened, and it just seemed like a ridiculous joke at the time.

It was a great show overall.

Update: The Larry Sanders Show complete series box has been delayed to November 2. I guess that's OK -- that's my birthday, so it'll make a nice present for myself!

I've been watching the Sanders box-set in dribs and drabs over the last few months. I would have to say that the best-of set mentioned early in this thread really does have most of the very best episodes. But there is an awful lot of comedy gold in the other, previously-unreleased shows too.

The box comes with a detailed book that is also an enjoyable read.

Seinfeld was my favorite TV show to watch on DVD but it gets too goofy in the latter seasons. Larry Sanders maintains its level of quality to the end. Great stuff.
