The DVD presentation of this film was quite good and it appeared that trouble had been taken to get a print with good colour. One could have been forgiven for thinking that the film was shot not that long ago. After years of sub-standard film presentation on VHS tapes it is good to see good presentation of these classic films on DVD.

This film follows a basic plot with a few fight scenes. Interestingly Eastwood is outacted by a orangutan and beaten up by an old woman which is a change of pace for him. Sondra Locke is passable but only just as a country and western singer.

The direction is basic but the film suffers from a lack of depth in its plot and laughs are few and far between. This is a passable comedy but not memorable other than some great acting by the orangutang who steals the show. There is running joke about Eastood being chase by a group of Nazi bikies. It didn't work here although it was slightly improved upon when the joke was recycled in The Blues Brothers some years later.

My verdict 60% - ok if nothing else is on tv.

cheers Peter
