I won't call it theatre! And maybe this belongs in Film-Yak, but here goes.

My house was built by a fellow who obviously was NOT an A/V nut (not even coax to the bedrooms . Even worse, it's on a slab with no basement. So now, I've been ordered, er, I mean, ASKED to move the ugly satellite cables inside the wall. So I've taken the baseboards off, and have found some room. But while I'm there, I might as well wire the house for surround to the bedrooms, dining etc.

My question: What type of wire will support the latest and greatest? I'm thinking a shielded wire, but not sure how many conductors to drive 5,6 (or whatever it is now) channels and subs etc. Should I run a seperate line to each room? Also, very interested in these little units which let you use your remote anywhere, anyone have them? Thank you.

Yes, since this has nothing to do with commercial film/e-cinema projection, I am moving this to the Yak forum.
