Job Description for Theatre General Manager

General Manager must have a minimum of two years experience in mega-plex theatre operations. Position requires a strong, dedicated person with the ability to communicate with all ages, genders and personalities. A manager needs to be the core of the operation of their theatre. They are responsible for having knowledge in all areas of theatre operation and theatre administration including the projection booth, concession and box office. A Strong asset is your ability to work with minimal supervision and a high level of initiative to inspire confidence in others and build leadership with strong communication between all team members. The General Manager reports directly to the Director of Theatre Operations.

Duties/Responsibilities
Managing the operation of a theatre includes but is not limited to the following:
• Available to work evening hours, weekends and holidays.
• Self-motivated, ability to learn quickly and good organizational skills.
• Ability and confidence to handle the activities involved with large crowds.
• Customer relations for improved service in the theatre.
• Controlling costs, including all direct operating expenses; purchasing and ordering concession stock, payroll, and other supplies needed for daily operations.
• Trains, coaches and develops staff members in their specific job functions.
• Interviews, hires and evaluates staff members.
• Scheduling: management, employees and film
• Develop marketing and ordering of promotional materials in alignment with company goals.
• Prepares administrative reports and special reports for senior management/corporate office.
• Enforces cash handling procedures as directed by Metropolitan/Rocky Mountain Cinemas policy. General Manager is held accountable for cash discrepancies.
• Enforces and supports Metropolitan/Rocky Mountain Cinemas “Operational Guidelines”.
• Organizes and conducts staff meetings and training sessions.
• Inspects building, Metropolitan/Rocky Mountain Cinemas property (including parking lot and lawn if applicable), and equipment conditions. Initiates repair and maintenance on building, property and equipment according to company policy.
• Monitoring risk management as it pertains to the theatre, i.e., employee patron safety, loss prevention, emergency situations, and the proper handling, reporting and investigating of accidents.
