Hello,

I'm the guy behind Kinograph - https://kinograph.cc - which was discussed briefly here in these forums back in 2013 when v1 was released - http://www.film-tech.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=011478#000000

I've recently secured more funding from a university to continue with the project and I'm posting here to invite anyone who is interested to join the community discussions on the design. Our forums can be found here: https://forums.kinograph.cc

The project is open-source and our goal is to build a machine that will be of use to small collections and independent filmmakers who want to affordably digitize their films.

If you or someone you know would be interested in lending their opinion, expertise, or rants to the project, we would love to have you! I am not an expert and am learning as I go. Kinograph can use all the help it can get. Below are some problems we are trying to solve.

If this is not the right place to post this, please forgive the intrusion. And also feel free to reach out to me directly: matthewepler@gmail.com

And, since this is a forum...I'd like to hear what you'd like to see in a machine like this and what you think the most important things are to get right.

Problems we are trying to solve:
- maintaining constant speed and tension
- sound via software or hardware
- gate design
- illumination approaches
- detecting frames with constant motion (no intermittent)
