Our Solaria One+ died. We are considering moving the replacement into the auditorium. Does anyone recall dB level of Solaria One+? It seemed very noisy and we would like to compare to what levels the new projectors advertise.

Thank you and Happy Easter, Vassar (MI) Theatre.

If you had one Solaria 1+ die on you why would you trust another? The Solaria 1 and 1+ have not been known as reliable machines.

Dear Sean,

The only way we would stay with that projector is if it made sense (i.e. affordable) to repair. It is not. Thanks to the support of our guests and larger community raising funds, we are investigating other options, both new and used.

In order to get an affordable solution we are moving the projector into the auditorium. There is no information on dB levels on the original Solaraia One+ spec sheets. We are just trying to figure out the fan noise might compare to 48 dB of one of the replacement candidates.

Hoping that makes sense, we thank you and send regards.

I can't tell you how the Solaria One compares to it by numbers, but I can tell you that e.g. a Barco DP2K-6E is very low noise (including the integrated server) and perfectly suited to be operated within an auditorium. As the Solaria One(+) uses xenon bulb and power supply, I think it is quite a bit louder...

I also think if Christie doesn't indicate the Solaria One noise level in their spec sheets, no one will have dependable numbers that can be compared to other machines.

Hallo Herr Kurz, Danke für den Hinweis und Vergleich.

DP2K-6E is listed with 48dB, the same as the NEC projector that we are able to use/afford. So that's very reassuring.

Random semi-relevant fact: The Quarter Pounder has never been on the German McDonald's menu as "The Quarter Pounder", but there currently is a version with tomatoes and mayonnaise called the Hamburger Royal TS.
