When I worked for Cinephoto in Manchester back in the days when these B&H were new we used to say that one day we are going to have to replaces these worm gears as it was obvious to us that they would crack in time.

Years later I used to repair 16mm projectors for a company in Warrington.
I would go to collect the repairs every 2 weeks.
I when to collect the latest assortment of 16mm projectors to be fixed I was faced with 32 B+H all needing new gears.
By the time I finished I could strip a projector, replace the gear and put the projector back together in 2 hours.

So are you willing to do this for reasonable hire now? I know not everyone likes the B&Hs, but there are a lot of these around that are perfectly reasonable machines with the exception of that stupid cracked gear.

Had my 2592 rebuilt about 4 years ago with an Urbanski nylon replacement gear, which should never crack, by a former B&H tech. He passed away several months ago. Such is going to be the story more and more.
