We are finishing putting together two projectors for our archive department.

I need to measure the film tension in the feed or take up reel and measure the tension necessary to move the film through the projector gate with a dynamometer. Any suggestions ?

Our goal under normal operating condition is to to have a tension between 6 - 16 oz-feet.

Here are some we use, should be easy enough to obtain online in the USA. They range from N (Newtons) to e.g. 100g, 500g and 1kg - not sure how that equates in Imperial measurements.

Cant seem to attach a picture, but you get the idea.

Chatillon LP36 push / pull scale 0 to 36 oz in 1/4 oz grauation.
There is a more expensive 516 unit but the LP36 should do the job.
