I am restoring a Bell and Howell model 630 mag/optical 16mm projector, which is an English built projector similar to a model 202. I am looking for a suitable oil to lubricate the shuttle and cam or intermittent movement and sprockets. The service manual reads to only use Bell and Howell oil, which is no longer available. What is a suitable modern oil that is a similar weight to the original Bell and Howell oil and will tolerate the heat and high speeds? I am restoring this machine to screen a 16mm print with a magnetic soundtrack. Kind Regards, Sam Turner

The B&H oil in that era was sort of thicker, medium amber, petroleum-based (not silicone). I'd think about a 20wt (in U.S. terms) non-detergent oil would be similar, such as for electric motor bearings. Want non-detergent so it doesn't eat up felt and such.
