Some of you may have seen an announcement either through email or on the AMIA listserv but I wanted to bring to your attention a project that I've been working on for about a year now, our 2016 Projection Workshop which will be taking place August 22nd-24th in Austin. This is an expansion of the one-day test workshop we ran in the fall of 2014.

The workshop is a joint initiative between AMIA and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, supported by the Film Foundation, with additional sponsors including Kodak, BLSI, and The Texas Archive of the Moving Image. Over three days, fifty participants will take part in small (~5 student), focused sessions working directly with instructors. There will also be several keynote presentations from such speakers as Chapin Cutler of Boston Light and Sound and Diane Carroll Yacoby of Kodak.

While we're not restricting participation, we are encouraging participants to attend only if they have a fundamental background in film projection, as three days is not enough to train anyone from zero to projectionist. Our primary goal is to strengthen key skills and identify individual weaknesses in the areas of archival film handling and repair, projection, and program management.

Looking forward to hearing you feedback on this
