For anyone having trouble with the CD drives in a DTS player not wanting to play discs.
I have had to crank up the laser power on all my older CD players when they started skipping, and having trouble playing discs, so I wondered if this is the same problem that the CD drives in the DTS players are having. I finally got a chance to test this, and yes, just an increase of 1/8 of a turn on the laser power (clockwise) corrected the problem. The laser power pot is on the read head, just turn it up 1/8 turn. I wonder if the laser power was set at the minimum amount of power needed to read the disc when the unit was new, but as the laser ages, and the alignment drifts a little, there is not enough laser power to read the disc. While you have the drive open you may want to GENTLY clean the lens. The lens moves to focus the laser, and track the disc. To much force will damage the systems that move the lens. Note: this is NOT a beginners project. Just getting the drive open is not easy. If you are not good at taking things apart, putting them back together, and still have them work, DON'T TRY THIS.
