Hello,
In an effort to document the current issue of film vs. digital, I am trying my best to get as many stories from all walks of life on the matter for my movie. Fundraising for the project has been a little rough and I am working on grant applications as I write. An idea I thought of that would be a HUGE contribution to my project is your stories, filmed by YOU! If you are an owner of some kind of recording device and would be so kind to record a "day in the life of a projectionist", I would love for you to send me these so I can place them in my movie. It doesn't matter if you have digital, 35mm, 70mm or all the above. I want to include your point of views. This would make for a pretty cool way to get so many stories montaged together. Since I am not in the position to travel with a crew to come to you, I feel this is a good solution. Please comment on here if you are interested, and I will coordinate with you on a one on one basis to set up a plan.
Thank you for reading and I look forward to the responses!

I totally would have done this and it would have been AWESOME, but my theater closed. Go back in time and do this a year ago and I'll definitely do it!

Hi Mark. Places like Regal really don't like things called cameras. They don't want all of their trade secrets getting out lest the competition find out their secret recipe for amazing-ness. I did industrial espionage on Mann Theatres for UA and stole all of their secrets. We used this knowledge to crush Mann and now the former owners are living on the street, battling homeless people over dead rats for their dinner. As a result, cameras are no longer allowed in theaters. Plus, they don't have dedicated booth personnel. I'd be forced to to go downstairs and wipe the manager's asses. No time to make a secret movie.

Like Joe, I would have done it too, but my theater closed a couple weeks ago after 10 years of business!

That sounds like an awesome idea [Big Grin] .

At Utopolis Almere we have 8 screens, 3 already are having a digital cinema projector but, the Vic 5 machines are all still there and 2 of those screens are still playing 35mm as well so plenty of nice footage to be shot I think. Just let me know [Smile] .

There are these little teenie cameras that can be hidden... even in the managers ass while your wiping it. Now's your big chance Joe! An undercover film about Regal... You could steal all their secrets so the little guy would be able to put them out of buisness... and you'd be a hero no less!!

Hidden cameras? Try the obvious - cel phone/smart phone/iPad cameras (although the iPad is a little oversized for 'covert' use) If your booth has security cameras that may still be a little tricky. Heck, national news broadcasts resort to using some of the lowest quality video these days.

Like many others, I have been made redundant, after 25 years of projection. (And even when I was working for my company, I was verbally admonished not to "say too much" on this forum).
Any advice for someone who's entire adult career has vanished?
